I spent a Sunday afternoon photographing my high school, best friends, new born daughter! Life really does come full circle.
Today, my son turned 13. THIRTEEN. While I struggle with the fact that time is flying by at an incredibly high speed, I am also grateful. I am so incredibly grateful. He is healthy, strong, active, intelligent and quite funny! (Quite a handsome chap too!) I am grateful for milestones, growth spurts, (HE EATS EVERYTHING. I have seriously been to the grocery store 3 times since Sunday) and watching him grow into himself and become someone with an identity, personality and character.
This particular day I assisted Krissy Thompson of Kristina Thompson Photography with a TWIN newborn shoot. This day was just so lovely snuggling these sweet little guys! Here are a few photos that I took with permission from Krissy. Enjoy the preciousness!
Every time I step into Katie’s house, it takes me back to another decade. A place in time, where things were simple, real. The home is focused on function and love. Katie’s seemingly simple decorating style, is, in fact, not that at all. Every piece of furniture, every frame, (even the empty one) is thoughtfully hung, placed and used (and was probably purchased at thrift or handed down). I have one word to describe Katie: grateful. She is grateful for her home (even those effing leaves!), her children, her friends, and hugs. She loves this town and the people, and she’s made this known through her thoughtful, witty and sometimes hilarious posts on ilovemyburg.com. (Katie provides words, Brandy provides photos. Check out Brandy’s site here.) I digressed.
It was a chilly November morning and I'd been looking forward to this day. It had been written on my calendar for a couple of weeks now: a road trip day with Angela! Angela is a dear friend of mine, and I try to make it to every event I can to hear her speak. (Angela's first poetry memoir was published this year! Find it here.) This event was particularly cool, because Angela had been asked to speak/read some of her poetry at Chop Suey Books in Richmond. I love downtown Richmond, in all its hipness, but Chop Suey is a gem of old. Check them out next time you're around town. They buy and sell used (and new) books! Plus they have a really chill cat named WonTon. He'll be there to greet you at the door.
Well, today was absolutely fantastic. I hosted my first ever "mini-session" event today, at my studio, at Spitzer Arts Center and it was a wonderful success!
Well, where to begin? This wedding was a complete dream. Every detail, every person involved, the venue, the flowers and don't even get me started on that DRESS!! I met Saralyn years and years ago, in high school and thanks to Facebook we have been able to keep up with each other's lives! :)
Saralyn reached out to me a few weeks after her engagement and asked if I would be interested in photographing her engagement photos, (um, duh) between her and Rikki, I'd have so much gorgeousness in front of my camera! :) Their engagement session can be found here.
Rikki and Saralyn's Wedding took place at Trump Winery in Charlottesville, VA. We hope you enjoy the photos! Stay tuned for Part II!
I value that I am invited to be a part of my clients lives. This young bride, I have known since she was only a teen in high school. I took her Senior photos a few years ago and I have watched her grow into a lovely young woman.
She ended up marrying her high school sweetheart. (they are just too cute!) I consider myself fortunate to be able to have been there to document some of the special moments in her life. Her husband left for a (what seemed like forever) deployment. And I watched her count down the days for his return. This session took place one week before he arrived home in my studio at Spitzer Art Center. We were able to deliver the photos to her before her husband arrived, so he would have a special gift for his home coming. Within months after his return from deployment, they moved out of state and purchased a new home. I am looking forward to seeing all the of the exciting times ahead for this sweet couple. In the mean time, here are some photos from our session..

I posted a model call on Facebook after I dream I had almost a year before...
Last May, on a gorgeous Spring day, I headed up to Northern Virginia to photograph an engagement session for a high school friend, Saralyn. Saralyn and Rikki live in the hub of NOVA and it was so busy that particular day near the water and downtown. Regardless, we got some great shots and had so much fun!
Talk about a throw back Thursday! :) Please meet Brad and Vicki! This was my very first wedding that I shot completely solo. I had the best time, with such kind hearted and FUN people! Read more for more photos!
Hi there! I began my re-branding this year, after over four years in this industry. In a effort to streamline my work for prospective clients I have decided to compile my favorite shots from previous years (waaay before my blogging days) in albums for you to see! So stay tuned for more weddings! While the editing feel and look has changed and evolved, I would still like for prospective brides to see my past work. Thank you for reading!
Are you a prospective bride or groom? Congratulations! Please email me at firstname.lastname@example.org to get in touch and for more information!
The photographs in this post are from my very first wedding photography coverage, ever! This family is beautiful...
